X-Men TC for Quake coming to the Mac!
Yesterday, I saw this posted in the comp.sys.mac.games.action newsgroup:

It looks like we (MacSoft) will release a version of the X-Men TC for MacQuake. There are of course contract negotiations to be worked out, programmers to be contracted, etc, but, as the magic eight-ball says, "indications are good." We have been interested in the project ever since our sister company WizardWorks first started looking at the TC, but due to the extremely favorable reviews X-Men has been getting from the PC magazines and the favorable reactions of the Quake community and the Quake add-on industry a few weekends ago at the Fragfest in Dallas, the project has been moved to the front burner. I will let everybody know how things progress.

When using the PC demo on the Mac, please bear in mind that there will be some changes to the Mac version to make it run better. Undoubtedly the 3DFX version will need some new code and the installer on the PC does some pretty intricate things to get it to replace everything, so some things may not work right. Also, the PC version is a pre-release and some of the sounds and graphics need to be finished. Cyclops currently uses the Quake Trooper's "Halt!" sound, for instance. A patch will be up to fix these on the PC soon, but when the Mac version comes out it should have these already.

Mark Adam's comments on the G3
Mark Adam had these comments to say in the comp.sys.mac.games.action newsgroup

Wow, I just got my PowerMac G3/266 today and it is amazing. Unreal runs nearly 3 times as fast as my 8500/150 and is very smooth (even all in software rendering)...
Other games just scream. Duke 3D runs 50+ fps in full detail 640x480. Quake is very smooth full screen 640x480. I even broke out some of my older games and was amazed at the frame rates. Flight Unlimited finally has a machine that makes it sing in full detail & full screen (even in virtual cockpit mode!). And System Shock plays fluid even in full screen mode.
