Mac Unreal Giveaway
It's lumbering towards us with a murderous fervor, striking down all that dare cross its path. It's fantastic. It's breathtaking. It's unforgivingly ferocious. It's Unreal, and it's going to rock your world.

Inside Mac Games and MacSoft have teamed up to bring IMG readers a very exclusive contest. We'll be giving away one copy of MacSoft's Unreal each week for the next three weeks! In addition, three lucky runners-up each week will receive an Unreal T-Shirt!

Unreal offers a complete world for you to roam -- a world of incredible beauty and realism with the most detailed environments ever to grace your screen. In one seamless flowing world, race across vast outdoor and indoor environments, enter enchanting cities, mysterious temples, glittering mines, shattered ships, and crystal clear waters.

With over 300 frames of animation apiece, and monster AI (that's Artificial Intelligence to you) adversaries will be smarter, meaner, and more alive than any you've ever faced. Which means that just when you think you've got them beat, they'll retreat, team up, and take you out later.

If you'd like to enter for this random drawing, fill out the online entry form at http://www.imgmagazine.com:591/giveaway/unreal_giveaway.html. One entry per household and name please; all violations of this rule will automatically be eliminated from the drawing pool. At the end of each week, we'll announce four lucky winners--one grand prize winner (a copy of Unreal) and three runners up (an Unreal T-Shirt).

Unreal GM Shipped to MacSoft
To clarify the previous news item further- we have sent what we hope is the final master (GM) CD to MacSoft, it is now in their capable hands for a final test. Whether this is the version that goes to duplication is up to MacSoft. So keep watching their site over the next few days (hopefully) for an announcement of when Unreal Mac has been signed off and sent to duplication.

The Mac version is up to date with version 209 on the PC.

F-18 Hornet Korea Voodoo 2 Patch
The Voodoo2 patch for F/A-18 Korea (mac) has been on the GSC ftp site for a week now. Today, it was added to an additional location.

Simply go to http://www.graphsim.com/ and you will see this information prominently displayed:

PATCH TO F/A-18 KOREA 1.01b l MAC

This patch enables VooDoo II for Macintosh Korea. Korea 1.01b can be found on the .....[and a link to it is supplied].

I downloaded it and converted my F/A-18 Korea 1.0 application to F/A-18 Korea 1.01b (beta 1). I trashed the F/A-18 Korea 1.0 and kept the F/A-18 Korea 1.01b (beta 1) as my sole application. Have had zero problems with it. I talked with the programmer at GSC who worked on it and he told me that I would not see any performance changes except that it will now enable F-18 Korea (mac) to run in 3dFx Voodoo2.

I downloaded it because I have ordered an 8MG Game Wizard (which the whole Mac world knows as being THE Voodoo2 card for the Mac.)

Thanks, Jack Lau!

Unreal Status Update
We are planning to send a golden master of Unreal to MacSoft in the middle of the week, if it tests OK and nothing needs fixed that should be the version to go to duplication. We had still planned to build GM last week to hit our end of July goal, but decided to take a few days to go out to Cupertino and enlist some Apple engineers for final optimizations. The work went well, and we gained some speed.

The Mac version is updated to version 209 on the PC, and is looking very good.

Tomb Raider 2 Status Update
We are getting close to submitting Alpha for Tomb Raider II, the game is coming together nicely. Early 3D support is beginning to shape up, and CD audio is working. This is going to be a great Mac game, even in its early form its a blast to play!

New Mac Fighting Game "2K5"
DoomHammer Software would like to announce the availability of the MacOS demo version of their latest arcade-style fighting game, "2K5".

2K5 is a fast paced 1 - 2 player fighting game for the Power Macintosh. You can play as any one of a variety of characters in either the solo-player scenario or head to head with another person over a computer network. Large high resolution graphics, stereo sound and intelligent computer opponents combine to deliver an arcade-fighter style experience on your PowerMac.

The demo version includes two (2) of the game characters, and the first round of the solo player scenario. Network games can also be played with the demo version.

The full version of the game includes eight (8) playable characters, bosses, multi-level solo scenario and hundreds of megabytes of between-round movie animation. If that's still not enough, you can build your own custom game characters with the aid of the special tools and character-building instructions included with the fullversion of the game.

To learn more about the game and to download the demo, visit the 2K5 web page at:
http://www.doomhammer.com/2K5.html
