Connectix Brings Playstation Emulator to the Mac
As announced yesterday at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco,
Connectix (Makers of Virtual PC) have released a software Playstation
emulator designed to run on PowerMac G3's only. Although this opens a
large library of titles to the Mac user, emulators such as these can
have a negative effect on the real Mac Gaming Industry, such as
publishers not making a Mac version of a game do to the fact that it
is avaliable for Playstation and therefor playable on Macs. I will
let you make up your own minds. You can read the full press release,
including a list of games tested with it at

Welcome to 1999 everyone!
Tanaka Demo To Be Shown At Macworld Expo San Francisco
Pacific Media WorX's soon to be released 3D racing game, Tanaka,
will be on display and available for "play" at the "Games Station" in
Apple's Corporate booth, at San Francisco's Macworld '99 Expo next
month.
Tanaka is a 3D race game where "pilots" guide their crafts (vehicles) through a series of complex "missions" through the mean streets of the City of Tanaka, in the year 2525. "Missions" vary in difficulty and objective. Some races are run "Against The Clock," while others are "Duels" or "Total Carnage" races where a player must defeat or destroy the other pilots to emerge victorious.
Tanaka is unique in that its 3D vehicles are "smart" and highly configurable. When players buy weapons and equip their vehicles, they must consider the effect of the additional "weight" and "drag" on the vehicle, as well as cost. The heavier a Tanaka vehicle is, the slower it will go. As players fire weapons and the vehicle becomes "lighter" and more responsive, speed increases.
At the current time, Tanaka is in beta testing stage. The game is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of '99 and will be available for both the Mac and Windows platforms.
Additional information on Tanaka and game screen "captures" can be found on the PMW web site at: www.pacmedia.com

of the popular Mac game F/A-18 Korea (a 3D flight simulator), and
they were with us in New York.
2) Remember that mac3d.com will be running live Championship coverage throughout the week of MACWORLD; it will be linked directly to our site, and all advancers and winners will be posted immediately. They will also have a live camera with updated pictures of the tournaments.

Unreal Update News
This update from Westlake:
Unreal version 220 has been released on the PC, and 221 is
scheduled be released soon after Christmas. Because PC users have
seen a good number of problems in 220 and with 221 coming quite soon
we plan to wait until 221 is released before applying the changes to
the Mac version(currently 1.0.2b2 or 219).
Many of us at Westlake are taking well needed holidays in the coming weeks, so we will not be able to start work on the next Unreal beta patch until after MacWorld San Francisco (January 5-7). After the holidays and MacWorld have settled down we will get the Mac version of Unreal up to date with the most current PC version.
Mac Gaming Alliance Named Best of 98
The @Home Network (Cable Modems) in there Games channel recently
named the Mac Gaming Alliance "Best of 98" in Mac Gaming. According
to them, the deciding factor between us and the Mac Gamer's Ledge was
the fact that we weren't going to take too much time off during the
holidays. Unfortunatly, only @Home users can view their games
channel.
