Westlake needs help tracking down bugs
Phil Sulak, one of the Westlake Interactive programmers who will
be working on a new Quake patch needs some help tracking down some
Quake bugs:
Hi All --
As you may have read, Westlake Interactive is now working with MacSoft to iron out the remaining bugs in Quake. We're making good progress, but we're having trouble reproducing a few of the bugs on our systems. So we were hoping that maybe some of y'all can give us more info on these bugs, and possibly help us out by testing new debug builds of the Quake app.
One of the Quake bugs we're trying to fix concerns crashes with the Options dialog screen. We've seen reports of people getting Type 1 and Type 25 crashes as well as blank screens when they bring up the Options dialog. I've found and fixed some problems with this dialog, but since I can't reproduce the crashes, I need to find someone else who's experiencing the problems to test my fixes.
The second bug we're having trouble duplicating concerns Joystick and Gamepad controls. I've fixed the problem with all controllers not being able to set the "sidestep" buttons, but we've seen reports of people setting up their Gamepads, only to have Quake ignore the settings immediately or sometime later while they're playing. If anyone is experiencing either of these two bugs with the latest version of Quake (1.08.4) and would like to help us out, please feel free to e-mail me personally. Thanks in advance.

X-Men: Ravages of the Apocalypse Macintosh Quake Total
Conversion Released
In a MacSoft press
release yesterday, they announced the release of the new
X-Men: Ravages of the
Apocalypse Macintosh Quake Total Conversion. "Using the powerful
game engine and playability of Quake®, while creating a
completely new game with Marvel Comics' X-Men, freshly forged weapons
and a riveting new story line results in a highly entertaining
experience," states Peter Tamte, executive director for MacSoft. In
X-MEN: The Ravages of Apocalypse, players are thrust into a devious
plot devised by the powerful X-MEN enemy, Apocalypse, to take over
the planet. Players must battle an army of X-MEN clones to find the
ultimate weapon and stop the evil plan. X-MEN: The Ravages of
Apocalypse includes an exclusive Marvel CyberComic written by famed
comic writer Larry Hama that tells the Ravages storyline. In
addition, Marvel's 'The Rise of Apocalypse No. 1' comic book is free
in every package. X-MEN: The Ravages of Apocalypse consists of two
completely new episodes featuring both single and multi-player game
modes with all new characters and weapons. The single player mode is
story based, including complex puzzles, traps and riddles that
players must solve while battling for their lives. The multi-player
port is Quake®-style Deathmatch play with players taking on the
role of their favorite X-MEN character.
X-Men: Ravages of the Apocalypse for Macintosh will carry a suggested retail price of $24.99
