Starfleet Academy Patch still in QA
In a fit of impatience yesterday, I e-mailed Interplay/MacPlay wondering what had happened to their forthcoming, or not so forthcoming patch for the Mac version of Starfleet Academy. Well the reply I got back was a little evasive:
Right now the patch is in quality assurance. Hopefully it will be released soon.
That's it. No answer for my question of whether or not this patch will have support for 3Dfx or not. Hopefully the patch WILL be released soon, but it depends on the defintion of "soon". I find Interplay a little bureaucratic at times...

Also, remember, the MGA has a review of Starfleet Academy which you can find here.

In a recent newsgroup posting Mark Adam when replying about the constant frame rates in Unreal or lack thereof he remarked that for completely constant framerates you should check out Tomb Raider 2 where on his G3 with voodoo1 he has yet to find an area that will drop the rate to anything below 30fps...

Tomb Raider 2 Progress
Also from Westlake Interactive:
Tomb Raider II is getting dangerously close to shipping :) We're in the final beta test phase, and the game is looking extremely stable. It runs fast on every machine we've thrown at it, the movies are slick, and Lara looks great on the Mac. We should go final within a week or two, so Lara will be available in stores in October. A demo should be available right around the time the game shows up in the stores.

The current minimum requirements for Tomb Raider II are:
PowerMac 80mhz or faster
16MB of RAM
System 7.5.3
4X CD-ROM

QuakeWorld 2.3 Mac
And again from Westlake:
QuakeWorld 2.3 is nearly ready to go for the Mac, and the last legal paperwork is being signed, so hopefully we'll be able to release it soon. Please don't email asking when its out, it just makes us spend more time reading/answering mail and not working.
