Problems with Caesar III
The Quality Assurance manager at
Sierra responsible for the Mac
version of Caesar III recently posted this explaination of some
problems with it to the comp.sys.mac.games.strategic newsgroup
We are actively investigating a potential problem with the C3Mac
large install. The most puzzling fact is that we are unable to
reproduce the problem with our gold masters and thus are in touch the
CD replication facility to see if some issue could have occurred
during the replication process itself. However, small and medium
installs work *perfectly*, as noted.
I apologize for any inconvenience - we hope to have this problem resolved very shortly.

New Macintosh Only Internet Gaming Service
Scott Kevill yesterday announced the launch of GameRanger, the
revolution in Macintosh online gaming, at
http://www.GameRanger.com. No
longer are Mac gamers relegated to second-rate status with PC-centric
online multiplayer services- now, they have one of their own. Using
GameRanger, Mac gamers now have their own way of finding other gamers
to compete against and trade info with.
GameRanger provides a completely customized Macintosh-friendly environment for players to meet worthy opponents, organize and play games, discuss strategies, and exchange tricks and ideas. Persistent player accounts, profiles, chat rooms, game rooms, audio voice chat, paging, server lists and powerful filtering are just a handful of the features GameRanger offers.
Right out of the gate, GameRanger offers support for 11 popular multiplayer Mac games: Civilization II Gold, Dark Vengeance, FutureCop: L.A.P.D., Jazz Jackrabbit 2, Quake 1, Quake 2, Quake 3, QuakeWorld, Railroad Tycoon 2, Unreal and Warcraft II.
That's not all! Support will also be forthcoming for many more top Macintosh games, including Age of Empires, Alien vs Predator, Civilization: Call to Power, Falcon 4, Madden NFL 2000, Rainbow 6, and Total Annihilation.

New Shareware RPG: Chronicle of Ekan
Flair Interactive
announced that the demo of Chronicle of Ekan, a new shareware RPG for
the Mac, has been released. A console-style RPG, Chronicle of Ekan's
mission is to provide a high-quality game for the Macintosh. Through
Final Fantasy-esque gameplay, an elaborate storyline, and large,
colorful graphics, we've created an impressive game.
Chronicle of Ekan's storyline focuses on a conflict between two superpowers: the communist WeaponTech and the capitalist Mirage. Set over the background of the enigmatic "A.C.E." project, CoE mixes Science Fiction and Fantasy.
We focus on providing a professional presentation. The graphics are in full color, and they're beautifully drawn. The characters stand at a full 110 pixels tall, juxtaposed over equally detailed and colorful backgrounds. No dinky characters here, mate! In addition, Chronicle of Ekan provides an atmospheric soundtrack.
Download the demo from Flair Interactive's Web Site - http://members.aol.com/flairint/
