Disney Bars and Tiki Lounges: Oga’s Cantina, Trader Sam’s and More

Some of my favourite stops on Disney trips aren’t rides at all, they’re the themed bars. Here’s a round-up of the Disney bars and tiki lounges I’ve posted from over the years, at both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California, with links to each visit.

Oga’s Cantina (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge)

Oga’s Cantina is the bar of Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu, with DJ R-3X spinning tunes and a menu of colourful Star Wars-themed cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. There’s a version in both Galaxy’s Edge lands.

Tip: reservations are strongly recommended at both parks and open in advance through the Disney apps.

    Trader Sam’s

Trader Sam’s is Disney’s tiki bar, famous for collectible tiki mugs and the little in-room shows that go off when certain drinks are ordered.

Tip: both are small and fill up fast in the evenings, so arrive around opening time for the best chance of a seat. The Polynesian also has an outdoor area, Tiki Terrace.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (Disney Springs)

Named after Indiana Jones’s pilot, this Disney Springs bar is decorated as an aircraft hangar full of adventure props and film references, with a waterfront patio. No park ticket needed.

    Nomad Lounge (Animal Kingdom)

A relaxed bar on Discovery Island with small plates and a terrace overlooking the river, and one of the few places in Animal Kingdom to sit down for a drink.

    Morimoto Asia (Disney Springs)

Not strictly a bar, but the cocktails at Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s pan-Asian restaurant in Disney Springs are worth a stop on their own.

    Tips for Disney bars

    • Disney Springs and the resort hotel bars don’t need a park ticket, which makes them good for an evening off from the parks.
    • Menus and mugs change regularly, so check the current menu in the Disney app before you go.
    • Most of these bars also have good non-alcoholic options.

  • Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

    Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California, is one of the best-known tiki bars in the Disney world, with themed cocktails, collectible tiki mugs and plenty of in-room effects that go off when certain drinks are ordered.

The photos show some of the drinks and mugs from this visit, along with the bar’s packed-in decor of masks, carvings and nautical props.

Trader Sam’s is small and popular, so expect a wait in the evenings; arriving when it opens or mid-afternoon is usually the easiest way to get a seat. It’s a short walk from Downtown Disney and the park entrances.

  • Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland

    Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland

Oga’s Cantina is the bar in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, set in the village of Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.

The cantina serves Star Wars-themed cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks in a dimly lit space with DJ R-3X spinning tunes overhead. These photos show the drinks and the bar’s interior from this visit.

Reservations are strongly recommended and can be booked through the Disneyland app; walk-up availability is limited, especially on busy days.

  • Kahuna Tiki – LA

    Kahuna Tiki – LA

A stop at Kahuna Tiki in the Los Angeles area for tropical drinks. The red cocktail pictured here comes topped with fruit and a paper umbrella, very much in the classic tiki tradition.

Southern California has a long tiki history going back to the mid-century Polynesian craze, and it’s still a great region for tiki bars today.

This stop was part of a summer trip to LA that also included Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood.

  • The Golden Tiki – Las Vegas

The Golden Tiki – Las Vegas

Back at The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas, a tiki bar just off the Strip in the Chinatown area that’s known for its over-the-top decor, strong tropical cocktails and late hours.

The bar is packed with skulls, carvings, pufferfish lamps and themed nooks, and the photos and videos here give a sense of the atmosphere along with a few of the drinks.

It’s a good alternative to the casino bars if you want something with a bit more character, and it’s a short ride from the Strip.

  • Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

    Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is Walt Disney World’s version of the famous Trader Sam’s tiki bar from the Disneyland Hotel.

Like the original, it serves themed cocktails in collectible tiki mugs, and ordering certain drinks sets off effects around the room. The photos show the bar’s sign along with drinks from this visit.

The Grog Grotto is small and fills up fast, especially in the evening. There’s also an outdoor area, Tiki Terrace, if you can’t get a seat inside.

  • The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas

The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas

The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas, a tiki bar in the Chinatown area just west of the Strip.

The bar is known for its dark, kitschy interior packed with tiki carvings, shrunken heads and themed booths, along with a long menu of classic and original tropical cocktails. The photos show some of the drinks from this visit, including a bright blue one.

It’s open late, which makes it a popular stop after a show or a night on the Strip.

  • Morimoto Asia

    Morimoto Asia

Drinks and dinner at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World, the pan-Asian restaurant from Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto.

The menu covers Chinese, Japanese and Korean dishes, from sushi and dim sum to Peking duck, served in a large, dramatic two-level dining room. The photos show some of the cocktails and dishes from this visit.

Disney Springs doesn’t need park admission, so Morimoto Asia is a good option for a night off from the parks.

  • Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

    Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs is an Indiana Jones-themed bar named after Indy’s pilot from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The bar is set up like Jock’s aircraft hangar, filled with props, maps and nods to the films, and serves themed cocktails and small plates. The photos show the bar’s decor, including an Air Pirates Circus banner, along with drinks from this visit.

It has both indoor seating and a waterfront patio overlooking the lake at Disney Springs, and it’s a relaxed spot for a drink without needing park tickets.

  • Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

    Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Walt Disney World’s tiki bar, during a September 2023 trip.

Trader Sam’s is famous for its collectible tiki mugs and for the little shows that happen around the bar when certain drinks are ordered. The photos and video show some of the mugs and the bar in action, including a blue skull mug.

It’s one of the most popular bars on Disney property and gets crowded quickly, so arriving around opening time is the best bet for a seat.
