Disney Bars and Tiki Lounges: Oga’s Cantina, Trader Sam’s and More

Some of my favourite stops on Disney trips aren’t rides at all, they’re the themed bars. Here’s a round-up of the Disney bars and tiki lounges I’ve posted from over the years, at both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California, with links to each visit.

Oga’s Cantina (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge)

Oga’s Cantina is the bar of Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu, with DJ R-3X spinning tunes and a menu of colourful Star Wars-themed cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. There’s a version in both Galaxy’s Edge lands.

Tip: reservations are strongly recommended at both parks and open in advance through the Disney apps.

    Trader Sam’s

Trader Sam’s is Disney’s tiki bar, famous for collectible tiki mugs and the little in-room shows that go off when certain drinks are ordered.

Tip: both are small and fill up fast in the evenings, so arrive around opening time for the best chance of a seat. The Polynesian also has an outdoor area, Tiki Terrace.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (Disney Springs)

Named after Indiana Jones’s pilot, this Disney Springs bar is decorated as an aircraft hangar full of adventure props and film references, with a waterfront patio. No park ticket needed.

    Nomad Lounge (Animal Kingdom)

A relaxed bar on Discovery Island with small plates and a terrace overlooking the river, and one of the few places in Animal Kingdom to sit down for a drink.

    Morimoto Asia (Disney Springs)

Not strictly a bar, but the cocktails at Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s pan-Asian restaurant in Disney Springs are worth a stop on their own.

    Tips for Disney bars

    • Disney Springs and the resort hotel bars don’t need a park ticket, which makes them good for an evening off from the parks.
    • Menus and mugs change regularly, so check the current menu in the Disney app before you go.
    • Most of these bars also have good non-alcoholic options.

  • Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

    Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California, is one of the best-known tiki bars in the Disney world, with themed cocktails, collectible tiki mugs and plenty of in-room effects that go off when certain drinks are ordered.

The photos show some of the drinks and mugs from this visit, along with the bar’s packed-in decor of masks, carvings and nautical props.

Trader Sam’s is small and popular, so expect a wait in the evenings; arriving when it opens or mid-afternoon is usually the easiest way to get a seat. It’s a short walk from Downtown Disney and the park entrances.

  • Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland

    Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland

Oga’s Cantina is the bar in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, set in the village of Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.

The cantina serves Star Wars-themed cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks in a dimly lit space with DJ R-3X spinning tunes overhead. These photos show the drinks and the bar’s interior from this visit.

Reservations are strongly recommended and can be booked through the Disneyland app; walk-up availability is limited, especially on busy days.

  • Back from Disneyland!

    Back from Disneyland!

So I was in Disneyland from October 7 to 12 and had an awesome time. I ate at the Carnation Cafe three times, the Rainforest Cafe, and even the Blue Bayou.

And I got a pretty sweet souvenir:

A Swiss Family Treehouse attraction poster with original leaf from the attraction all in a bamboo frame. The Swiss Family Robinson is one of my favorite movies, so of course the tree house would be one of my favorite Disneyland attractions, had they not replaced it with the lamer Tarzan Treehouse in 1999. Thankfully when they replaced it they kept some of the leaves so I can have a cool souvenir like this, and they left the Swiss Family Treehouse in Florida alone so I had a chance to see it back in May.
