    Epcot food…

Epcot food from a September 2023 visit to Walt Disney World.

Epcot’s World Showcase is one of the best places to eat at Walt Disney World, with pavilions representing 11 countries and seasonal festival booths throughout the year. The photos show a selection of dishes and drinks from around the park.

Grazing your way around the World Showcase with small plates from different countries is one of the most popular ways to spend an afternoon at Epcot.

  • Typhoon Lagoon cabana day

    Typhoon Lagoon cabana day

A cabana day at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park at Walt Disney World in September 2022.

Typhoon Lagoon is themed around a tropical resort hit by a storm, with a shrimp boat stuck on top of the mountain, a huge wave pool, a lazy river and water slides. Renting a cabana gives you a private, shaded base for the day with loungers and service.

The photos show the park’s tropical landscaping and the view from the cabana area.

Epcot Food & Wine Festival items

A round-up of dishes from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at Walt Disney World in September 2022.

The festival fills Epcot’s World Showcase with temporary global marketplace booths serving small plates and drinks. The items pictured here are, in order, Fisherman’s Seafood Pie, Brioche Escargot, an Impossible Slider, Spam Musubi, pimento cheese with pork rinds, and Schinkennudeln.

Small portions make it easy to try a lot of different things, so it’s a great event for working your way around the world one booth at a time.

  • Dole Whip on pineapple upside down cake

Dole Whip on pineapple upside down cake

Dole Whip served on top of a pineapple upside-down cake at Walt Disney World in September 2022.

Dole Whip, the pineapple soft-serve, is one of the most iconic Disney park snacks, and this version tops it on a slice of pineapple upside-down cake for a double dose of pineapple.

It’s the kind of treat that shows up seasonally or at special locations, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for variations on the classic.

Happily Ever After, the nighttime fireworks spectacular at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, filmed in May 2017.

Happily Ever After debuted in May 2017, replacing the long-running Wishes show, and combines fireworks with projections on Cinderella Castle and a soundtrack of Disney songs. It was replaced by Disney Enchantment in October 2021 for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary and returned to Magic Kingdom in April 2023.

The video captures the show from in front of the castle.

  • Best Book I’ve read about Walt Disney World…

I’ve read a few books related to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and this one is my favorite.

  • Hostess Strawberry Cupcakes & 10 days to Walt Disney World! Which is more exciting?

Hostess Strawberry Cupcakes & 10 days to Walt Disney World! Which is more exciting?

The other day while shopping in Wal-Mart I was excited to find these:

    Hostess Strawberry Cup Cakes

Now that I look at the photo I’m doubting my ability to spell cupcakes. I’ve always thought it was “cupcakes”, but that box clearly shows “cup cakes”. No matter how you spell it the taste of these sucks. Hostess products never taste that great to begin with, I think it’s more the nostalgia factor that causes me to purchase them more than anything else. I had high hopes that strawberry cupcakes would taste ok, but they don’t. They smell very strongly of fake strawberry, almost like some horrible perfume. And I failed to taste even the smallest similarity to the strawberry flavor that Hostess used and a real strawberry.

Much more exciting is the fact that in 10 days I will be in Walt Disney World in Florida! I went there last year shortly after I had lung surgery and had a lot of fun. This time I will stay for longer and I won’t be still recovering and I will have even more fun. I’m even heading to Universal for one day to check out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Here are some photos from last year’s trip:

I’ll share some pictures from this years trip when I get back!
